Overview

Parflow Swivel Gauge Adapters are engineered to provide flexible mounting solutions for pressure gauges and instrumentation devices, allowing instruments to be precisely oriented after installation without disturbing the process connection. By enabling controlled rotation between the piping system and the pressure instrument, swivel gauge adapters improve readability, simplify installation, and reduce mechanical stresses imposed on gauges and associated fittings.

In industrial installations, pressure gauges are frequently installed in confined spaces or on process lines where the final orientation cannot always be predicted during assembly. Without a swivel adapter, installers often need to over-tighten or under-tighten threaded connections to achieve the desired gauge position, potentially compromising sealing integrity or placing unnecessary stress on the instrument.

Parflow Swivel Gauge Adapters eliminate this problem by allowing the gauge to be rotated independently after the pressure-tight connection has been established, resulting in safer installations, improved accessibility, and professional instrument alignment.

Working principle

The lower connection forms the primary pressure-tight joint with the process line; the upper connection allows controlled rotation of the gauge body. Once the process joint is tight, the gauge turns independently to the desired dial position while sealing integrity is maintained throughout.

The adapter is a small part with a narrow envelope; the selection work is in the connection and material columns, not in the numbers.

Why the swivel matters: tightening and viewing angle are the same motion

On a fixed threaded gauge connection they are one degree of freedom. The installer turns until the dial faces the operator, so final torque is set by where the dial happens to land, the joint ends up over-tightened past the seal point, or backed off short of it.

The swivel separates the two. Make the process connection up to its correct torque, then rotate the gauge 360° to any viewing angle without loading the threads. The same applies in reverse at replacement: the gauge comes off without disturbing a joint that is already sealed.

FAQ

Why not just tighten the gauge to face the right way?

Stopping a threaded joint at a viewing angle means it's either over- or under-tightened, stressing the instrument and risking the seal. A swivel adapter separates sealing from orientation: tighten fully, then rotate the gauge freely.
